Default Computer compatability?

So I scored a long block LS1 out of a 2000 Trans Am to put in my '73 Camaro, and I'm considering buying a cheap junkyard 5.3 to get a lot of the small parts I need to finish the engine. As long as I get a computer/wiring harness that works with a 24-tooth reluctor, would I be able to plug everything in without a hitch? (Other than adapting the wiring harness to fit the older car; I just need to know if the computer will run the engine.) I ask this because the car and truck computers have different part numbers. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I'm a little new to this EFI thing.

Thanks!
