i didnt really know where to post this so i guess i post it here. iv been looking a widebands for my firebird and am wondering y i cant just tap into the o2 that already on my car instead of getting a new one and having a bung welded in my y-pipe. i know its kinda a dumb ? and i know that it prolly wont work and it would mess up the readings the pcm is getting o2 but i just was wondering if it could be done.

The stock wideband sensor are narrowband sensors and cannot be used to accurately determin AFR. It is possible, however to use a wideband sensor as a narrowband also, so you wouldn't have to weld an extra bung in the exhaust.

You're better off to have a bung welded in. Most exhaust shops won't charger over $25 or so since it takes a second to do it. I wouldn't try to tap in the front sensors. Typically results in them being ruined and having to replace them anyway.
