Default Cam Combo

Dont know if this is the right section. But Im doing some research on possible head/cam combos and want to know if anyone is running a similar setup.

Head/cam package:
TSP Stg 2.5 ls6 heads or Stg 2.5 5.3l heads. Not sure if I want to raise compression
TSP Tsunami Cam
Rollmaster single roller timing chain
Mellings Oil pump

This package comes with the new pushrods at 7.4" and new springs @.660 lift. What else should I really get with this? I dont know much about timing chains, but there is an option for a double roller adjustable timing chain but I cant use that with the mellings oil pump so I should probably just get a ported ls6 pump correct?

So anyone running the same head/cam? Anything to add to that? I know everyone has personal preferences, so this is my preference. Really like the MS3 and MS4 cams, but I dont find too much info with MS4 paired with heads

The MS3 is probably too big for the heads. Put new rod bolts in it. Is this on a completely stock car? For example, if it is a 98-00 a4. It's going to suck **** with stock converter, intake, and exhaust.

What car is it, and it a (A4 or M6)? What gears you have, and what are your goals for the car?

My buddy installed the TSP 2.5 ls6 heads along with TSP torqer V2 cam along with dual valve springs. He didn't change his oil pump or his timing chain but his car only had 7,000 miles on it when we put the combo on, now it has 11,000 miles and no problem If your car has higher miles I would change the oil pump and timing chain. I would just buy the LS6 oil pump that TSP has it's just as good as the other ones, as for the timing chain look at the ls2 or rollmaster double roller timing chain both would work great also get TSP head/cam bolts and gasket kit I think it's $150.
I'm doing a cam swap(TSP 228R) in my ss now and I'm using the LS6 oil pump and rollmaster double rolling timing chain.

what trans and rear gear will you use with those big cams?a big cam needs a high stall or a good clutch, and you should get 3.73 rear gears.

the tsp 5.3 heads can be set up to run a ms3 cam.the big cam will lessen your mileage .talk to TSP about you should get cam wise.

I just ordered this combo with the 2.5 LS6 heads and the Tsunami cam. I ordered mostly everything I needed to do the swap when I get home from this place(iraq). Matt@texas-speed helped me out alot. Ask him questions and he will basically tell you what you need.

The tsunami cam is main one im looking at. So the only thing I'll probably change on my list is the timing chain and oil pump. May add new rockers and gaskets while im at it. But im not sure yet.

I just got the LS2 timing set with the package. I didn't order the oil pump though...I should have. Like I said, call up Texas Speed and tell them what your goals are and they will be able to point you in the right direction.
