Default Transporting an engine

I am picking up my LS1/4L60 this week. Any suggestions on how to strap it down or what to place under the engine/trans? I will load it in the bed of the truck and hauled about 100-200 miles depending on the time I pick it up. The guy said just to lay it right on the bed... right/wrong?

I usually use a spare tire placed under the oil pan. If you're driving that far, absolutely use tie downs. If you're worried about leaks, throw down a blanket or tarp or something. Drive gingerly, you don't want to have it sliding around in your truck's bed. Good luck and enjoy the engine!
