if it is an auto then becareful, the stock 4l60e's are hit or miss, some are really good, some burn up the 3rd and 4th clutch pack often, just make sure you drive it, check the oil pressure gauge, ask him if hes done anything to it ( heads, cam , headers, intake etc)
and if there is something u think might be broke, pass it up, theres always more.

I think if at all possible, you should try and get yourself a nice LS1. They are a very good high mileage motor if taken care of. I just got myself a nice T/A with under 100k miles for less than $6k. I got a really good deal and the car runs and drives great. You just have to look around for a good deal. LT1s are okay and you can find them for decent prices however if you can find a good LS1 car for cheap, I would say get it. Good Luck with the search

I bought a 99 SS with 130,000 miles.Bought it from orignal owner. It's a 6-speed.He took care of it and it shows. The car runs and drives great. You just have to look around.I paid $5000. and think I got a good deal.It was unmolested so I don't think it's been beat on.You have to be careful with mods, they didn't do mods so it would be a cruzer.Good Luck.

Believe it or not, I found mine on eBay. They had it buy it now for 6200 or best offer. I offered 5800 and they accepted it...97000 miles...not low but not high either. The vehicle was also an hour away from family so they went and picked it up.

Lt1s have less power by far. LS1s are quicker. There are so many parts that you can buy for either. I guess it all depends on the finances...If you can find an LS1 car for cheap, then I would jump on it.
