It thins out the oil? Also why do alot of people recomend slowly pouring most of the can and then dumping the rest real fast to stall the engine? Isn't it dangerous to do this. Hydrolocking the motor risks bending rods or valves does it not?

I wasn't going to hydrolock the motor. I was just asking why so many people say to do this. It seems like a stupid thing to do. I don't want to rebuild the motor until I'm over 100k. By that time I'll probably want to do some crazy stuff to it. The reason I want to do the Seafoam thing is because I'm getting poor gas mileage and I was supposedly pinging on the dyno a couple weeks ago. Thanks for the input. Please let me know if you have any other input.

I don't know why people say you need to change your oil after using Sea Foam or any other "TOP" engine cleaner. You are putting it in through the same path as the air/fuel (In the chambers on top of the pistons) It seems to me, you would have to have bad rings in order for the engine cleaner to get into the oil.
