i have a 2000 z28 a-4 ls1 and it has 137k on it and i plan on fully doing a bolt on first (including cam) till it goes to heaven but my question is what is the best engine replacement for the ls1 block to go all out on like a 396+ ci motor ??

just tryin to see if i can start lookin for a replacement block at a good price i been hearing lq9 allot can anybody explain to what car that comes from so that i can find it at a junkyard

You can drop a ls6 in if you want. They're pretty reasonably priced, but I'm guessing you can't bore it over too much like you can't on the ls1. From what I've read they're a direct drop in- PCM works fine with them, and pretty much any part that'll work on your stock engine will work on it.

any GM truck that comes with the 6.0, so like your denali's and 6.0 silverados and sierras. You might be able to find one in a junk yard but honestly you can get a LQ9 or LQ4 longblock for well under a grand that runs good.

These days it seems as if there is a block for every budget and build. Do you want iron or aluminum? Your goals sound a lot like mine when I wanted to upgrade from a H/C setup. If you want to feel the rear end break free in 3rd gear just go for the cubes.
