Default Alignment or something else?

Guys help me out here on my buddies T/A the two front tires are completely bald on the OUTSIDES (belts are showing) the car doesn't pull to a side and the psi in them are right what could cause this? ....its a 99 if it matters and it's stock suspension

Well, it could be an alignment problem. It could also ne a tire pressure problem, too low of pressure and hard cornering may cause the tire to roll over (more than normal) and cause premature wearing. One of my buddies had the same weird tire wear, and his problem wound up being worn out control arm bushings, causing it to toe out at high speeds. I would first check tire pressure (since its free), then maybe get the alignment checked, and if its not out of whack, look for worn out bushings.

Just sounds like the tires were rotated and he needs a new set. Every LS1 Ive seen that needed tires looked like this.

Does he really care about his car? If he does, he should've noticed the tire wear well before the belts started to come out.

If the alignment is out of specs, it does not necessarily cause any pulling. So, he should take his car to a shop to have the alignment checked out and go from there.

Also, like felton316 said, worn suspension components could also cause tire wear.

well the alignment was done 2 months ago because it was pulling to the left and the tires became bald after the alignment ...think the shop screwed up? like I said the car doesn't pull to a side it did before the alignment though

Sounds to me like a problem with the toe, as in not enough making the tires look like this going down the road / \. THis will not cause a pull because the tires will find a happy medium in the middle. This will however destroy a set of tires real quick.

Toe/camber? I had a 99 silverado that I lowered. I used a djm lowering kit. However, I did not take my friends advice (take to get camber/toe/alignment fixed). I didn't know any better. Three weeks later I had a blowout and realized only then that one inch was completely worn on the inside of the front tires. Just wires showing

Vehicle lowered at all? Either way its jacked and needs to be fixed asap.

Two new tires, almost 400 bucks. Adjustment to alignment 60 bucks

Of course it's going to look like that on a lift. There is no load on the suspension, so it will hang freely. Usually, the problem you describe is the exact opposite on a lowered car as the insides will wear /~\. It sounds like the toe is in too far.

True, but too much negative cambe will also cause outer edge wear.

Camber will also cause this, but if Its even on both sides and not pulling I would lean towards toe problems. Also IF it happened after an alignment I would seriously doubt the tech screwing up camber on both sides, its easier to belive he set the toe wrong.
