Default Speedo wiring

Hi All,

I have searched and have not been able to find a answer on this.

I have an LS1 with a 4l60e out of a smashed 98 firebird that I have put into an 89 Rx7 convertible. I have a few odds and ends to finish up on the wiring and have been stumped on the speedo for quite some time.

I replaced the mechanical speedo with an electronic one. It matched the original one quite well. I'll post pictures if anyone is interested.

The trouble I'm having is that I seem to be unable to find a signal from the PCM to power it. I have the 98 PCM and have used pin 55 from the RED connector. It is labled as VSS Output Signal.

Nothing.

For a little while I accidentally was on pin 57 (same color wire). It is an ignition control signal. The speedo would change based on the RPM of the motor.

So I'm willing to go all the way back on the 4l60e and grab the right signal if that is what it takes. I thought the VSS would be enough.

Anyone else ever tackle this?

Ugh!
