ok so i just picked up my 99 z28 about 2 moths ago and its got a weind intake manifold,k&n cold air. and what looks like a custom exhaust iv'e never seen one on a Camaro like this (ill post pics up tom). i was wondering could i be getting way more horsepower with a tune know or does the car have to be tuned to right right when changing the manifold so maybe its already tuned cause it runs perfect..

I would ask the person that you bought it from exactly what was done to it. Im going to have to guess that they had it tuned after they did all the work that they did. Throw some more bolt ons, then go give it a nice dyno tune. No point wasting money on something that was already done. Do you mean weird or weiand for the intake manifold?

yea sorry about the spelling its a weiand intake it is aluminum i looked it up online and it said these mani. were made for adding nos basically but adds 30 hp over stock..
but thats were i hit a dead end the guy i bought it from was had it for about 5 years and didnt do anything the guy before him did.. and hes doesnt remember anything the guy told him.. but you can tell that someone put some time and money into the car.. i was washing it the day i bought it and in the motor area looks like they guy bought a *** load of steel braided lines and changed every line he could to the steel and im still finding other lil mods here and there ill have to post up some better pics.. but i can pick up a hand held ls1 tuner for 50 bucks right know i was thinking if it isnt tuned and for 50 i could prolly get anothr 30 hp or so

the weiand is a good intake .I feel using a hand held turner to tune it will cost more then $50,you pay for down loading tunes from the website of the co. that makes the hand held..most hand held will add 15 hp to a stock tune.your tune is probably not stock..go to the tuner section and ask around .I feel a dyno tune will get better results.

weiand or the bbk will out perform the stock ls1 intake any day of the week... even if it is heat soaked like everyone talks about... i got a bbk on my car and ill posting the differnce between the ls6 stock intake/tb and the bbk/85mm tb soon as i get tuned... but I can notice the difference in power in the upper rpm range

There is nothing wrong with the intake. They weigh a little more than stock that's it. Should be marginally better than the ls6 intake and a TON better than the 97-00 ls1 intake.
Cars have had performance aluminum intakes for 30-40 years, people don't even usually pick up any ET or MPH with an air gap style aluminum intake that doesn't heat soak. Aluminum dissipates heat pretty well.

First off, stop doing ricer math. If you listen to what hp gains you get on everything, you would also be believing your getting 20hp from a k&n air filter... Ask the owner if it was tuned, if not then no big deal. Get a tune after full boltons are done or you move to doing a cam.
