so im looking to replace my fuel pump not looking for anything crazy but want it to work. right now my fuel pump is going out and im looking to replace it.
has anyone ever bought one of the ebay fuel pumps IE thats one of them i saw. why is the walbro better or whats the diffrence in the two?

- i guess ill kill two brids with one stone, the reasion i need to replace it is when the car warms up the fuel pump makes a noise like its not pumping right anymore like a raise and fall sound. and the fuel pressure drops pretty quick to 0 but if im driving its fine no issues at all just when i come to a stop. any idea i think its a bad fuel pump

 

anything against a stock pump?

i dont have anything against a stock pump just dont see many of them and im trying to get something around the $50 range
the racetronix is pretty high priced for me right now

 

I would spend money on good pump so you don't have pay 150$ tow bill.

Personally, I'd replace it with a stock pump. That's just me though. I have AAA so tow fees don't apply. And unless you're running a 600+ rwhp car, I'd think a stock pump would do you just fine.

With a $50 budget, I'm not sure what other option you have.

 

yeah i got a few bolt ons and the WALBRO price is kinda steep

 

If you only want to spend $50 then I think your best bet is to find someone parting out a low mileage car in the classifieds here. But doing a fuel pump on these cars is no picnic so I'm not sure I would buy a used one unless you plan on cutting the hole in the rear instead of dropping the tank.

 

Fuel is the one thing you do not want to mess around with.

Like stated above. Not a great place to try and save money! Unless you do the work yourself. Dropping the tank is kinda a pain in the *** so labor ain't cheap. You can go in through the top of the tank but most people don't go this route.

 

FYI, If you decide on a racetronix dont order it from Thunder Racing. I ordered mine March 10th and on March 29th I hadnt even recieved a tracking number. Ended up cancelling it and buying a Deatschwerks pump. ($164.00)

 

I put in a Walbro about 5 years ago. Hassle free, I knew a few people were running the pump on the forum. I also cut an access hatch in the boot to save dropping the tank.
If its something that is gonna last you 5years+ then it seems to justify the higher price. I wouldn't want to trust an unbranded eBay pump personally.
I brought some cheaper window motors for $30 each, worked great for a year, now I've purchased some better ones as they are a pain to change, it didn't really save me anything in the long run.

 

I bought my Walbro from the Ws6store without the extra wiring kit, just the pump and it was about 80 bucks, cut the access panel, pop it in there, done.

 

Payed $93 shipped on e-bay for mine.

 

Guys GM will rape you for a pump. Go Walbro or Racetronix which IIRC is a slightly modified Walbro...

 

Yeah they want like 700$ can't just buy the pump only has be the whole sending unit and pump. I checked when mine went out few years back.


If you want to wait 5 hours for tow truck AAA takes there time. worth the extra $100 for the Racetronixs and piece of mind

Autozone wants $202.99 for airtex pump. And can get racetronixs whole kit $208

Oreily Auto has Delphi Whole Sending Unit and Pump for $479. Bosch says to call for pricing.

 

Like already said E bay is good for alot of things but I would never buy a unnamed brand fuel pump for any car through them. Now exhaust or intake is different but when you cut major corners like this is when you start running into reliability issues. I mean seriously how often do you have to replace the fuel pump? Why not just spend a little more and do it right the first time
