Default Headlight issue?

I just purchased an 01 Z28 and the previous owner told me that the drivers side headlight sometimes won't come on, but you can shut the car off, restart, and the headlight will usually come on. Any idea on this? He said possibly the ballast? I looked and it has some aftermarket brand ballast already. Any help is appreciated!

No ballast on stock Camaro headlights. They are just a bulb and wires.

Sounds like someone did an HID conversion at some point. So you can either convert back to stock, or try to narrow down whatever is wrong with the aftermarket setup.

If someone put HID on I would just take it off there is no reason to switch from stock.

just bulbs and wires. check the wiring for any frayed or damged wiring that could be shorting out somewhere

Yep the car has HID's. I have never messed with HID's, is the ballast a good place to start? I seen the same ballast I have on Ebay for like $15.

It sounds like someone f*ck*d with it if you are not good or familiar with this kind of stuff I would put it back to stock or take it to a shop. They could have done a number of things to mess it up and if your ballast is an eBay ballast from China that means whoever did the HID swap probably was pretty cheap.
