I did it the week I got my car. Bent 5 pushrods, one pretty badly. The car ran perfectly... no indication that anything was wrong except for a slight ticking at idle that wasn't there before. That was with the stock shifter... since then, I've backhanded 3-4 and have had no problems. The Pro5.0 made things even better.

Done it twice. First time stock "Hurst" shifter, second with a Pro-5.0 shifter. The first time wasn't bad, but the second was a 6K. I bent the pushrods, intake valves, lifters, and put smiley faces on the pistons. I just pulled the handle in the wrong direction.

I did it once with my Hurst Billett Plus.... I havent noticed any new noises but as I can see that doesnt mean anything. When I do the sparkplugs in a few months I'll check the pushrods.

i bet im the only one that can say they did it in an A4....No i didnt intend to downshift....i was coming through the traps in D and i hit a bump with my hand on the shifter while simultaneously moving to put it in OD to not drag on the tranny while slowing down....bam hand jumped the wrong way and cliked into 2.....AHHHH pretty horrible noise came out of the tranny which killed a sunshell a week later but the motor is as quiet as it was the day i got it. thankfully the converter just ate the extra speed and prevented a mechanical over-rev....still NOTTTT FUNN!!!!!!!!!!!

in all honesty reading this post has just about made me forget about ever buying an M6. i know theyre fun to drive but just the sheer thought of this horrible mistake makes me cringe...

Not yet. I gone 1-2-5 on the stock shifter, but it just goes against the limiter from the clutch spinning. No problems with the Pro 5-oh yet.

Is there a sound that is emmitted by the tranny or a lock out at all??? And, if so then why not??? I know the 5.0 I learned to drive a stick on would not let you downshift if you were revving too high.

MY buddies that had all 16 pushrods bent, well it did not make any noise that a normal engine would not do, but he would notice somewhat of a miss when he would floor it, almost like it would take a brief second for it to kick in and start making power. He tried everything, and finally decdied to check out the push rods, all were bent to hell.

yeah some sort of thump or grind (depending when you hit it)... It doesnt particularly go in easily, but when youre going fast youre ripping the shifter anyway. Theres no way the 5.0 locked out downshifts, it uses a Borg Warner T5 or a Tremec T5 and neither have the capability to do something like that.
