A buddie of mine has a 94 lt1 stock 6 speed car with 3.23 and he totally blew the mustang out of the water from a dead stop and a 30 mph roll and 20 mph. This one still had all the dealer stickers on the windows and had a nasty exhaust

Mine has 2.73's, and a 35 mph punch will put me in 2nd...

ya, with A4 you wont get 2nd gear at a 70 punch. 60-63 is the optimal spot atleast on mine, and 23-25mph, will lite up the tires and your gone.

I'm guessing some N20 on that Mustang brought about your demise.

Get 'er to the track. Then you'll know if you're slow or no

There it is ... A4 with 3:23's and you're gonna be at the bottom of 3rd gear .... That was the reason.

Hey thanks everyone! Yeah, I didn't think there was anything wrong with my car (except my tires are really crappy). Hopefully I'll be ordering a Yank PT4200 in a few days so I can wake my car up from a roll.

Stall, gears, and DR's ... the only way to go with an auto. Just those mods alone and you will see a HUGE improvement in your car ... especially from a dig.

As for the actual post ... the guy probably had an M5 and had a good jump on you (as you said) so he was already going a few mph more then you were when you jumped on it ... at 70 your auto should shift down to around 5,000 in second gear. The problem here was probably that he had an M5, vs your A4 ... he had a decent head start, and an m5 stang will not trap much lower then your non-stalled a4 ... especially if you have 2:73 gears and not 3:23's. If you had run him from a dead stop, it probably would've been a different ballgame.

Plus, you never know if he was stock or not ... tons of cars go for a stock sleeper look ... and he may have sprayed, who knows.
I have the 01' WS6 A4 (3.23 gears stock and I am planning to change to 3.73) and if it is around 75 and I mash it it may not drop to 2nd and 3rd has lower rpms. Usually, I will drop it to 2nd myself and kick it (I have also adjusted my rev limiter to 6500). But, have good tires and a straight away the RPMs will be high and it is set to stall at 6200 with rev limiter. My guess is you were closer to 75 when you mashed it and did not get as big of acceleration.

Just my 2 cents.

yep dont slam shift it.. you can but it heats stuff up really bad... id do it only incase of emergencys (like gettin an asswoopin by a gt...j\kl) but you can modify your tranny do this without harmong it you just gotta buy a kit, cooler and i think a manual valve body (im not the one to ask about tranny parts) but i know it can be done pritty easily

I have an automatic SS and have NO problems whatsoever killing Mustangs. Rolling start or dead stop they don't have a chance. I have a friend with a 5.0 and after a h/c swap from a roll I still handed him his a$$. It is kinda wierd that you can't beat GTs, and even for an automatic my car doesn't feel weak to me from a roll. It takes longer to downshift, but when it does the power is there.

Ive taken many GTs, sounds like you gave him too much of a jump. Our cars are faster but if you give your self enough rope youll hang your self

Thanks guys for all the comments! I'm pretty sure I could have taken him if I wouldn't have let him get such a jump on me, but I thought it was an '03 or '04 cobra and I just wanted to make sure what I was up against. I probably would have ran him anyways, but it's just good to know the competition.

If you race a 03 or 04 cobra prepare to get beat, from what i hear those things are pure evil. But you should be able to slaughter all GT's, i've got a buddy who bought a 2003 new and at all speeds i can smack him around like i would most imports.
