Corvettes are "flimsy"? Seriously? Maybe compared to a F350, but if we are talking C5 to 4thGen, your experience was fail.

My buddy that lives right across the street has a 97 vette. napa blue in color. His rear bumper fell off the first day he bought it. We put it back on and its all wobbly and you can push it in easily. I drove it out to the strip and when I was changing the radio station, the plastic surrounding the stock radio cracked. Kinda flimsy..and if you've ever seen one that's wrecked, you know what I mean

Every car can have interior or body panel niggles, but the C5's structure is definitely not "flimsy", even compared to a 4th gen F body (which isn't flimsy either, lol).

Granted, I will agree that a bumper falling off is pretty poor for the first day that you get the car, but the C5 structure is very good.

Lol. Thanks alex. And I know what you mean formula. It was just kinda sad. Every 4th gen f body seems to hold up very strong in comparison

I can push the polyurethane pieces in on my Trans Am too...they are supposed to "give". A radio-trim piece is your supporting argument? Seriously? Have fun with your project...

Im hoping to turn the turbos all the way down and "get free power" for the extra gas mileage and turn them back to higher boost when im racing

Sounds to me like N2O would be a better option.

Running low boost won't change the fact that turbos are still a restriction in the exhaust system and add significant weight (head units, intercooler(s), piping, etc.), both of which will hurt MPG even on low boost.

Nitrous is literally just along for the ride when not in use. And if you pull the bottle out when not planning to race, the only added weight left is solenoids, switches, wiring and lines - which is nothing compared to the weight of an intercooled TT setup.

All it takes is a 100 shot to reach your 450hp goal on an LS1. Actually, you'll surpass that, because some of the other items that improve MPG (like better flowing exhaust and a leaner tune under cruising conditions) will also boost power.

only on the highway with flat roads it can happen. my trans am in my sig with the mods gets 30mpg on highway cruise but the city it takes a dump almost less than half of what it gets on the highway. i think with a 4.8 and a light car and good highway gears this can happen with all the proper tuning.

Interesting idea. As mentioned I think you could get 40 mpg NA with a really light 6 speed car and stock motor but power like that would have to come from a bottle.

Do it! Post results.

A friend of mine runs an M6, stock gear, lightweight clutch, lightened driveshaft, Fast 90/90 setup, LT headers and matching heads/cam and easily gets 34mpg without weight reduction
Yeah I somehow doubt that. Not only do you say he 'easily' gets 34mpg, but the guy has NO weight reduction, has aftermarket heads and a cam and has the stock gearset.

That is a big no! Your friend is a straight up liar.

Unless he disconnects 6 injectors and then goes out for a drive and says he gets 34mpg in a full weight f body.

I'd have to agree. Stock gears with a cam means that 6th gear won't even be usable under many conditions, further hurting MPG. Some things are too hard to believe without seeing them for yourself, and this particular claim falls in that category.

I doubt it because an M6 at highways speeds is between 1200-1500 RPM's and at best gets 30 MPG. I still say his best bet for a 40 MPG LS1 is to drop a LS1 in a RX7 or 240sx since those both weigh considerable less with weight reduction he would get better MPG's out of it.
