Default Automatic vs Manual?

If you took both stock automatics and a manual car put the same driver in it which car do you think will achieve the better Quater mile time?

If the driver can actually drive Id say the 6 speed would win 8/10 races.

I want to say bone stock for bone stock, I'd have to give the Manual the edge. But, mod for mod, if you want to be consistently fast all day go with an Auto.

If the driver shifts perfectly then manny, but like TransAmWS.6 said, mod for mod auto's kill the game, especially if its stalled.

I would expect a stock manual car to win that race as long as the driver knows what to do. But put a stall in the auto and that edge is definitely gone. A lot of drag racing is in the 60 foot so whichever car can cut the better 60 is probably going to win.

I hate when people say auto's suck from a roll, I've fucked my fair share of 6 speed ls1's from a roll..

It all comes down to the driver the manuals will put more power to the ground but are harder to luanch ive done some decent 60ft times in manual cars and you got to be on your a game when you luanch! I used to race an rx7 and feather the clutch out at 8k rpms made for a nasty burnt clutch smell but netted me 1.8sec 60ft times on little cheap street tires and a open rear end.

Now on roll races it depends on the reaction time I do think the autos might have an advantage as you just mash it and go but I think a good driver in the manual car would get the win but its all in the driver. On my bikes I used to beat everybody outta the hole only to lose on the topend being on a sport touring 600 them being on full sportbikes. I picked a manual becuase I like to row through the gears yea I might loose a few races here and there but I bought the car becuase I like to drive if I wanted a dragstrip car Id get an auto just to keep the driver error to a minimum

Sorry, we don't welcome A4 vs M6 battles here. It's a debate with no winner, and nothing but a bunch of flaming and opinions that usually turn into personal attacks.

If you want to discusss a specific bench racing situation, please use the following section:
