^^ Haha, well there's a big difference between a few tenths and a second or more.
Yeah, I'd prob lose my AC if I got a turbo kit out of the deal. Of course I can't PAY for that turbo kit, but if someone wanted to donate one I'd swap the AC for it, lol.

This has been my first summer without the ac. Its really not that bad up here in New England (well this year anyway). Even this year hottest day on CT record (104) I was out tearing up the road without ac. That and all the other weight reduction mods together make it worth it. When I get a cam I "might" just put the ac back in though who knows.

Listen man, if you have to DD it then take the bottom half off in the rain. Then take the weather stripping out of the front of the airbox. You do not want to hydrolock your engine.
I was lucky. I drove in a massive storm when I had my 98z with ssra a few times and nothing happened. Also last year on the way home from the track I got caught in the worst storm iv ever been in and somehow didnt suck up enough water to hydrolock. Even though nothing happened to my engine I wouldnt say its fine to drive in the rain with one of these. I am EXTREAMLY careful.

Oh i know what a water inside an engine can do (I had a friend re-build his ford truck engine and he had a low intake for it and thought it would be fun to hit a big puddle, well he had to re-rebuild his engine) there is no way I am going to let that happen! Here is that I have been thinking (not trying to hijack here) since I DD I was thinking about a K&N CAI plus with the SS hood it would deliver some cold air in (I know these hoods are not real good ram air hoods) it would be a decent flowing intake (not as good as say the ssra with a lid) but would be close?

The FTRA doesn't have the bottom scoop. I DD mine, and have had zero problems in the rain, including one crazy storm where there was at least 6" of water on the roads I had to drive on. I took it slow of course, but no problems.
And maybe I'm just a wimp, but I run my ac just about everyday...if it's even remotely hot I put it on. Although now it's finally cooling down enough in the evening where I'll run with the T's off on my 45 min ride home from work.
