I used to have a shiftlight and it was adjustable on the back on the shift light, I believe this is what they refer to when they say you need a rev controller.

This was the shift light like I had from summit.

So if yours has an adjuster like that one all you have to do, which kind of was a nightmare for me, was tap into the wire that runs from the pcm to the gauge cluster that controls your RPM Gauge. It took me a while to figure it out and reading a bunch of pcm diagrams. But, that was years ago and on my 3.8L. Once you find that wire everything is uphill from there, just finding a good place to mount it is not fun either, lol.

Frost is having a sale on the Harlan shift light, I believe.

Mount it in the defroster vent in your drivers A-piller. It tucks away NICELY.

I'd recommend a Raptor or Harlan light. Like LS1_Sean said, three wire hookup and a micro screwdriver to set what RPM you want it to come on at. I have a Raptor and it hasn't missed a beat in 4 years.
