Oil question
Sorry to ask this... i know it's been done into the ground for sure but my car did not come with a owners manual so i couldnt look up what motor oil the engineers recommended... I was looking into putting redline or royal purple synthetics oil in the next time i change my oil is this a good choice... and if so which one should i putin my motor 5w40 5w30 10w40 10w30 i have no clue... i would look this up in manual but like i said i dont have one. If anyone knows a place online i could look at a manual or download one that would be awesome.

I believe you can download a manual at www.chevrolet.com. Register as an owner and you'll be able to get the manual. The manual says to use 5W-30 oil. I've read a lot of threads on this subject and most people say AMSOL or REDLINE is the way to go in an LS1
I've always used Mobil 1 5W-30 in all my cars. When I bought my 02 Z I switched to Redline 5W-30 based on the information I got here.

If you use Royal Purple, go with their Racing 41 oil, it's the best oil they've got for the LS1. Their multigrade oils (5w30, 10w30, etc.) aren't as good.
If you use Redline, go with their 5w30.
You might also consider Amsoil 0w30, German made Castrol 0w30, or even Mobil 1 0w40.
(and yes, for those who will ask me later, I have expanded my "recommended LS1 oil list" here)

Not no knock Zo6killer or Mike but when it comes to oil Patman is da man. When ever I have a oil question I just PM Patman. Thanks for the info on the Mobile 0W-40 Patman. I noticed a good increase in oil pressure over the Mobile 5W-30.
