Default Briefly Seeing Oil Change Light

I have a 2002 Camaro SS. Two days ago I turned it on and the change oil light came on. It would stay on at idle but after driving about 30 seconds would shut off. It comes on every time I start the car but will always shut off within 30 seconds. About a thousand miles ago I did switch to Royal Purple SAE 5w30 with a K&N oil filter. Not sure if that's the problem but just throwing the info out there.

I have tried to reset the change oil light but that doesn't even make it blink. I don't have an owner's manual so I wondered if I was just not pressing it how it needed to be done, but I'm surely doubting that the problem. The engine really doesn't even read low oil pressure at idle. It does not act rough or like it's going to die.

Is this an oil sending unit problem or a bad wire or bad sensor? Any ideas? Thanks so much in advance!

no. just put the car in the on position, and hold it for 10 seconds next time it comes on.

if it was a oil sending unit problem your low oil light would be on trust me I had that problem.

You just need to reset your oil change light. tunr the ignition to the ON position but dont crank the car, Press and hold the Trip reset button until you start seeing the oil change light flash I think it should flash three times and then let go. everything should be good to go

this light has no sensors attached to it that check your oil or any other status. its a timed light that goes off every 2000 miles. reset it and it will go off again after it counts another 2000 miles.

Well I feel like a dink. I was trying to do that with the car on. Thanks though guys. Glad I asked or I would've been mad about nothing.
