It was something to do with the stock gear ratio you have. I got 410 gears for mine. Mine has 2:92's in it so yours wont be the same as mine. I believe you can decode your door code info on the net and find out what gears you have. Then you can check with a search engine to see what series that makes your rear end. Sure you can also find the info on ls1tech.

You have an M6, so you have the 3.42s, unless your rear is swapped. A 2 series carrier is a car that came with 3.08s or lower from the factory (i.e. all of your 2.73 cars). A 3 series carrier is a car that came with 3.23s or higher. This is very important when you order new gears, as they will differ from 2 to 3 series carrier.

That means that I need to get 3 series Career then, cause I'm M6. Right?

Correct. I would just call someone from ws6store.com to order and confirm with them.

As stated in the above posts, since you're an M6,you would have 3.42s' on a 3 series carrier. You would need 'standard' 4.10 gearset for a 3 series carrier,GM 10 bolt 7.5/7.625 variety.

A 2 series carrier has the surface of the flange (that the ring gear bolts to) further away from the centerline of the pinion. From the factory it was used for 2.73 and 3.08 gearsets. Because of those ratios, the pinion gear is large, hence the flange needing to be further away.
A 3 series carrier has the surface of the flange closer to the pinion centerline. From the factory it was used for 3.23 and 3.42 gearsets.
If a 2 series carrier needs to be used with the higher numerical gearsets,'thick' ring gear sets are used. Available in 3.42,3.73,4.10.
