If it was me I would check with the dealership (or 2) and if it was only oil consumption I would leave it at that so long as it is not more than 1/2 qt in 3000 miles. Like I said, no oil loss, no piston slap, and I drive VERY Aggressive. I am only concerned about my Tranny....

I went ahead and checked my PCV system and there seems to be a bit of oil but nothing major. I changed my PCV valve too, being that they are cheap. I recently changed to synthetic oil and I guess you all are right about it being normal because when I used semi-synthetic it didn't use any oil at all. I changed from Quaker state 10-30 (synthetic blend for highhorsepower engines) to Mobile 1 10w-30. I believe though I'm gonna have to go to Mobile 1 5w-30. Thanks for the info

FWIW,
The reason you guys running synthetic are not seeing smoke is because synth doesn't burn it evaporates. At worst the moisture would be added to that you see coming out of the tailpipe anyway.
Again FWIW,

Is the pinging only between 1500 and 2300? Usually if it's oil buildup you will have it even worse in higher rpms. Have you scaned for KR yet?

I agree with the posts that say oil consumption is not normal. I broke in my 02 WS6 real easy and now I have 18K miles on it and it NEVER uses any oil. Daily driver to work and back ( I hit 100mph daily ) up and down mountains, all driving conditions, it never uses an ounce of oil. The guys that use those oil catch cans must have thrashed out motors.

There is a TSB regarding oil consumption in our cars. Search for it on here. I had the same problem and went to the dealership armed with the right info, after much BS from the same dealership. They replaced the middle piston ring on each cylinder, under warranty.
I use only Mobil 1 5W-30 and when I had the problem I was about 1 qt. low after 2000 miles I think.

hmm i havent really checked there i should, and yes the pinging is only betwen 15-23k but thats becasue at that range is lean i dynoed the car and the a/f ratio at that speed was up in the 15, 14 range after wot the car gets a little rich and if i push the car hard enough some smoke comes out the back, probably the seals are getting a little old. i think next oil change i might put red line oil in it cause i can't get the oil presure to go above 40 whan the car idles with mobil one.
ps: KR? y should i scane for KR and what is Kr?
