Default Should I remove Air pump?

Hi all,
I'm wondering if I should delete out my air pump..?

Are there any cons to deleting this out? I have gotten a pretty generic SES code from it and I need to do emissions, I have read that removing it is what a lot of people do.

I have a 99 WS6 w/110k miles.

Would this effect my car at all?
(It's all stock right now) I plan to do just an intake & exhaust for now.

Thanks!

You can remove it but you have to have it tuned out so you don't throw a code. I don't think there are any cons as it's main goal is to help the cats heat up more quickly (more or less) but unless you're a tree hugger, having the cats heat up a bit slower won't really hurt anything. It may shorten the life of the cats as well but by how much, I dunno... not by much I don't suspect.

I'm removing mine when I install long tubes.

A lot of people remove it because it doesn't work with most headers. If you are looking for a performance mod this is not it(if you only take out the pump), but if you are doing long tubes I would take it out.

Yes remove the AIR pump... hate that thing! But that wont fix your SES light. Removing it will throw a SES light for u not having it plugged in. You will still need to tune the code out with a tuner.

I took mine out and blew it to pieces with a shotgun.

Yeah, I don't plan on removing the cats or anything like that for now.

Its just annoying to see the SES light on with that secondary air injection system code... I might just take it in to see what it is and if its shot, might as well do what Troy5061 did hahaha
