I just got into this forum called ecomodder.com. I bought my first eco box car a saturn sc2 5speed. Its funny to see how crazy these guys get about mpg. Its just like us over here and track times and dyno numbers. I got to say ive done a few mods to the saturn for fuel economy and bought a scan gauge so I can monitor things and see live mpg data, its kinda fun. I still have my 800whp ta sitting in the garage waiting for springs, right next to my big block 68 camaro. Im doing alittle making up for the years of polluting with tire smoke and track runs, lol.

I get between 17-19 in my 02 SS. A4, 3.42s, LTs, Catback, and lid. I actually get a little better MPG if i accelerate at a reasenable speed to the speed limit rather then baby it. 40% city-60% highway, some traffic.
And i actually bought my car for a DD that got decent MPGs because i was tired of getting 11 in my truck. I have a bike to go fast.

would some 243/799 heads help with a little better gas mileage ? I would think a ls6 intake mite help with gas mileage.what cam could produce a little more power and improve gas mileage ?

The physical things you can do is:
Remove weight from the car like heavy sound system
Skinny tires like 245s with proper air pressure on stock 16" alloy wheels
Suspension - replace and or re grease all bushings , ball joints(if they are loose).
Fluids- just like motor oil, these need changing but every 20k miles (subjective to where you drive).
Driving habits:
Coasting when not on highways and cruise control when on highways
Electronically :
Tune - There are dual tunes available by FROST.
Not sure how tunning works but maybe a performance tune and a dd tune is possible.

All of you that are able to actually drive these cars to get optimal gas mileage must have way more self control than me.. especially the ones highly modded lol. Nevertheless, I'm also curious what heads/cam combo would be good for more power and better mpg.

How about aero mods?
I notice most cars and trucks have wrap around lower front airdams. Our cars only have that short airdam infront of the radiator, I guess to direct airflow up to the rad and intake.
Now if one were to make, or find a junkyard airdam that would fit, would that help out aero effeciency enough to gain a noticeable inccrease in MPG?
I was thinking that black garden edging might make a decent homemade airdamn, but might look a bit ghetto. Next time I go the boneyard I'm going to look at airdams. and see if there are any that look like thye'd fit the f-body. I'm thinking something from a midsize GM like a Regal or Grand Prix might work.
I was also thinking of doing this on my Grand Cherokee. Now it's lifted, which kinds of deafeats the purpouse, but maybe a large, removeable airdamn might help with effeciency a bit but bringing front bumper height back to stock.

Mine is an auto, 2.73's. Going 65-70MPH on the interstate with cruise control on I get 27MPG.
City driving I get 16-17MPG, if I baby it.

I'll give you advice get your exhaust fixed, and get a better tune. If it has a large cam, I expect it to idle at 900-1100. If it is a smaller cam, or stock, you should again, have it re-tuned.
