Default 98LS1 water in engine bay

Hello, I am the proud owner of a 98 ws6 trans am but I dont have the luxury of only driving it on good sunny days. It seems that when I go through a water puddle the alternator starts surging and drops voltage according to the dash indicator. I was wondering is there a add on/bolt on cover to protect the alternator from water splashes? I am tempted to make a galvenized sheet metal cover to deflect the water from it. I have had the alternator serviced since I flooded it out once before and I dont want to have that happen again. Does anyone have any suggestions?
