I had another idea. Right now i have stock manifolds with stock y-pipe and cats down to a flowmaster muffler into the dual tips. I was thinking about getting headers and keeping the rest and gettng rid of the flowmaster for something louder. What would be the best way to go about that with the best sound. Keep cats or get rid of them? What kind of muffler? etc. I still would like the dual release as well.
honestly from what iv heard, flowmasters for our cars suck as far as flowing goes. If i were you id do the tsp stanless headers/ory w/ a magnaflow cat back. All stainless for under $1000 s hard to beat and itll sound good.

I'd like to see/hear of an exhaust set up that does not drone @ 1800-2100 RPM the cruising range, you can do headers and all of that BUT if you take the stock muffler off you are gonna drone no if's and's or butt's.
It's the frickin drone that just kills me.

I have Kook's 1-3/4 primary headers, Kook's ORY, and a Dynomax cat-back and I think the car sounds pretty good except for the fact that the resonator tips get a little mouthy at about 2,000 RPM. When the Dynomax setup ***** the bed I'll be going to something else, so I have my ears peeled.
Can't go wrong with Kook's headers, but you definitely pay for the quality

Right now I have Flowmaster 80 series on my 99 TA. I love the sound it has that real deep growl and just gives it a full body sound. But, I have thinking about going straight pipes from the cats back. Make it sound like a pissed off lion. But, deffinantly anything you do to your car will sound amazing!!! Good luck!!

something about clearsance issues with true duals; so he recommened i only go with an 1" drop. I was like i need a bit more then that so i went the catback route. and ended up saving $770.

I have a manual so my "cruising" range is more like <1500RPMs on the highway, but regardless my Hooker catback with stainless works LT headers and ORY has no drone at all, it was actually really quiet in the lower RPMs before I did the H/C 383 I have now. I had flowmaster on before and had to get rid of that quickly after I did the LT's and ORY, that thing sounded like crap, bad drone and really weird sounding rasp (not like loudmouth rasp, more like dump truck rasp).
Also have to add in here, Im not a fan of magnaflow from the cars Ive heard it on, sounds like a truck to me.

I actually like it... A cutout would be perfect for track use and you stay pretty quiet for daily use.

um......... i had a magnaflow catback before i had kooks true duals............... the magnaflow/TSP headers Y-pipe had less clearance than the kooks true duals. I'm lowered on strano springs and running the kooks true duals just fine..... as are alot of members on this forum.

Was on the highway to Slowhawk's dyno day Saturday next to a guy that has headers, ORY, and SLP Loudmouth; all I can say is DON'T run that combo. It was retarded loud any time he even tipped into the throttle
