When did LS1's change over to get rid of the EGR valve?

Well in 2001 the Fbody's no longer had EGR because they use the LS6 intake!!

That kinda helps in other ways too

Gives you a reason for a new intake

it was also b/c they switched to a slightly smaller cam, the one from the trucks in 2001 and it didnt need the egr to be emissions legal.

y-body (Corvette) never had EGR, so if you're looking for a LS6 intake, it's been known for people to pass off non-egr LS1 intakes as LS6 intakes...

2001 didnt have EGR because of a smaller camshaft. the LS6 intake was used to make up for the HP loss from going to a smaller cam.

Its not really a "smaller" camshaft. It has more overlap, which gives the effect of EGR (basically).
