Default LOOKING AT 98 z28! need help!

i am considering buying a 98z28 with 72k miles. it is a hardtop a4 car with a lid and hooker catback. it also has the cam and valvesprings from a '02 z06. the car runs great but has some inperfections. the front end was damaged and the bumper/hood/fenders dont align quite right. looks like an amateur repair job. the interior plastic is pretty scratched up in the back but other than that looks ok. the tires are bald, and it has '01 vette wheels 18"/17". the guy wants 8k for the car and i was wondering what you guys think? thanks so much!!!

I have seen quite a few people selling 98's for $8-9K with the same mileage (maybe a little more). It is always best to buy a car that has not been wrecked. Did the owner tell you about how the car was damaged? If not, what else is he/she hiding? If you noticed the damage, then I would steer clear of the car. The damage could be alot worse than what it seems.

I think what people are trying to say is you cannot really put a value on a wrecked car. It sounds to me like it is ragged a little bit.

Why not just find a nice one that has been driven by a non racing woman or man with no mods whatsoever with less miles for $9,000-$9,500?

Unless the vehicle is in good condition, I would not pay $8k for it. You can check on Kbb.com to find out the private party value of the car, but I am sure it will be closer to $6,500 - $7,000 depending on how bad the damage and paint is.

I think you should keep looking because you could probaly find a 98 in better condition that hasnt been wrecked. Once you wreck a car like that it wont ever be the same i would start out with a good car. good luck

Have it checked out by a mechanic you trust. If its just the panels not being aligned very well that's easy enough to fix. Getting it for $7k would be a steal!

Get it thouroughly checked by atleast one mechanic. If its nothing mechainical and only cosmetic then definently go for it. Even if you cant get it fixed immediately atleast its an LS1

cam/spring change, damage ext/int, bald tires, other mods, obviously been raced with a stock A4 w/ 72K miles... unless this a project car for you, pass. I wouldn't pay $8K for it when you can get a non-moded, non-abused car for that price.

Of course that's just me...
