Rear end removal question
I didn't know where to put this but I found another rear end question in here so I hope its ok. If not please let me know.
Its time to rebuild my rearend and I've never really done it. The car is a 96 Trans Am with TCS, ABS, and 4 wheel disc (the whole nine yards). I was flipping through my haynes manual and it said with TCS do not remove the rear axle housing from the car because the brake system has to be bled with a GM Tech 1 or a T-100 (CAMS) scan tool. So my question is how do I remove it and rebuild without a scan tool? Or is the haynes manual full of its self (for lack of better term)?
Also I have heard you need to retime the rear end, or am I mistaken?

Never heard of re-timing a read end... I would assume if you can find a rear end with the same hardware it should be a straight swap. I don't see why you'd need to use a scan tool either.
And bleeding the brakes, yes you'll have to bleed them after opening the system. Not sure why you'd need a scan tool either.

Thanks guys. As for the timing I was told about I thought about and I think they were talking about setting the pinion. So I'm not worried. I looked into the scan tool bleeding bww is right its abs so again I'm not concerned.
Btw does anyone know the torque spec for the cap bolts that hold the diff in, I can't find it in my haynes manual?

Man that helps so much. I usually don't worry about minor torque specs but I kinda want to do this right. So having a list like that will come in handy big time. Thanks for the quick reply.
Sorry it took awhile for me to respond to everyones post, been getting caught up here. Again thanks everybody.
