problems with new car maf sensor

I just bought a 2000 camaro ss m6 with 99k. Car was hesitating bad at 2500 to 3000 like it hit a wall . I just got a slp lid and cleaned the old maf. The car ran worse so I went and bought a new maf sensor from autozone. It fixed the problem 100 percent and I swear my car was losing 20 or so hp. Is that possible? Car is night and day. If anyone having problems with high mile ls1 might be maf sensor similar to mine.

If you ever have problems again and think it is MAF related, unplug it... If it clears up, that is your issue.
A bad MAF will destroy driveability.

Absolutely. Bad/dirty MAF sensor can cause hard start, poor driveability, etc! Like lemons said, unplug it and see if that helps. Your PCM has tables built into it that let it run in speed density (no MAF) in the case of a AMF sensor failure.
