Default Would like some advice on the best LS1 setup

Greetings

I have a 2002 WS6 with the 347 cid LS1 motor that I purchased with some modifications already having been made to the motor, etc. and I am looking to get you-all's expert opinion on what I currently have in place, and what y'all think i still need and or dont need, take out, swap, etc.

This is what I have:

FAST 102 TB and Intake
COMP Camshaft: 230 / 236 111 lsa .613 Int. / 6.08 Exh.
LS7 Lifters
LS2 Timing Gear
7.45 Chrome Moly / Hardened Pushrods
PRC Dual Valve Springs
Yella Terra Roller Rockers 1.7
GM H.O. Oil Pump
Patriot Coated Long tubes 1 3/4"
High Flow Cats
Y Cut Out
Borla Dual Exhaust
3.73 gears
3000 Stall (this I'm not 100% sure about)

I just ordered some TFS 220 Fast as Cast heads from Brian Tooley. I've read wonderful things about his work, and when I call him, he was extremely informative and nice to me considering I'm new to all this and dont have much knowledge pertaining to this stuff just yet. In addition, I shipped Brian my 102 intake to be ported with the heads. I'm really excited to see what power this brings me.

The car like it is made 400 rwhp / 394 ft lbs of torque on a dynojet over at Late Model Racecraft. Not to be rude towards LMR, but I just dont feel like I got a good tune. I would like to get yall's opinion as to where I should bring my car to have the cylinder heads swapped out and get a fresh tune.

Also, I just ordered a 160 deg thermostat due to my car running so hot. When I stop at a light it shoots up to 210...and it's been as high as 214 before.

Any advice as to what I can do to get in the 450 or 460 rwhp range would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If you are worried about the tune not being optimal, I would start there. Get a 2nd opinion as it were. You have the baseline mods, only thing that will help for more power is more air, fuel, and the spark to set it off. Get a new tune after the heads and ported intake come back. You may be surprised.

have Brain supply you with the correct intake gasket to properly align the intake and head ports.

I don't think that 400 cam only is anything to sneeze at. Get some good heads on there and it should do great. I don't have any experience with LMR but from reading the threads, looks like they know what they are doing. I think your heads are just hurting you.

OP...210 is actually optimal operating temp for you LS1.
Plus there are mixed opinions on the 160 thermostat.
As stated above should be a very strong runner

Are you referring to the 8 rectangle gaskets??

Thanks to all for the responses.

Jay - I've got 47 lb injectors. Do i need to upgrade my fuel pump? Also, I have the functioning Ram Air system. What more can I do other than adding a forced induction system to achieve more air?

Thanks

Who does your tunning?? I'm considering G-Force in Pearland. Opinions on G-Force??

Sounds like you need to beef up your suspension now.

the fast intake mite need to be shimmed up with a long gasket to match better with the TFS heads.Chrs1313 had pics of this,he made his own gasket spacers.

A solid suspension will keep the body from flexing/dimpled quarter panels. Stiffin up the chassis, keep your nose from lifting/ diving on hard launches/ braking/cornering. It helps keep you wheels planted to the ground/transfer the HP to the ground more efficiently...You'll start breaking bearings n **** eventually with high HP engine on stock suspension.

Good to know about the suspension, Justin. Thanks. Any brands to look at that are priced within reason?

Definately get a set of 1 7/8" headers and ditch the 1 3/4".

Strut tower brace is an appearance mod, zero performance to be gained.

Not to mention there isn't a bar that will clear a 102.
