Default Headers or ls6 Intake

I have a 98 TA mostly stock except for a Level 2 Performabuilt Transmission and a 3200 Stall Converter. Trying to decide on the next mod, I was looking at an LS6 Manifold, including Fuel Rail, Fuel Injectors, and Cable-Driven Throttle Body from texas speed or Some headers. Any advice for maximum performance gains?

Also if i was to go with headers my TA has a 1 inch lowering kit, which headers would be best for clearance issues.

Headers first...do you have a catback? And if you get an ls6 intake, you should keep the stock fuel rails, injectors, and just port the stock throttle body. Theirs no need to buy all new when swapping out a ls6

I have Straight pipes from CAT back, no muffler. What type headers do you recommend? Also will i have to change anything besides the headers a Y pipe? or can i use stock?

Pacesetter ceramic coated or TSP stainless...BBK is also a budget friendly option. You would need a ypipe setup, I'd suggest getting a quality catback or better yet tsp true duals. This all greatly depends now on budget. You can get a ls6 intake off this website or eBay for 350$ and easily install it yourself. Headers/ypipe alone are/can run 400+, harder to install, you gotta have a good catback or it will sound terrible..360$+...tune+ labor. Headers are gonna achieve better flow/hp and make the car sound like a beast. What's your budget? Read some stickys while your at it.

get the stainless tsp headers. They have updated past fitmet issues. They are swesome. I love mine

LT headers will give you much bigger gains than an LS6 intake would.

I would go with the Texas Speed 1 7/8 SS headers. WELL worth the money!

Will it mount up with the stock y pipe? Also i have straight pipes no mufflers, what cat back system do you recommend

No, you're going to need a new y-pipe. As for the choice of a catback, it's subjective. You'll get opinions from all over the place. Some like it nasty and raspy, others like a smooth, deep tone. Borla, Dynomax, Magnaflow, SLP, Hooker, and GMMG are among the most popular. You could always do the TSP Rumbler as well. It's up to you to decide that for yourself. My advice is to go with the most straight-through setup (i.e. bullet) you can tolerate the volume of. Spend a little time here: http://www.ls1sounds.com

you can get a used ls6 intake on this forum for $350.you can find used BBK intakes for $300.do all your bolt ons together ,then get a mail order tune from Frost.

id go headers first. you will notice better gains and the added sound. header brand depends on budget. just search and see which ones fit well and quality. do it right the first time. then go intake and a tune to get the best performance. dyno tune would be ideal but mail order would do if on a budget. might want to consider deleting the egr/air with the headers. if you do then you would need the check engine light deleted out.

I agree, do all of your mods and get it tuned when they are done. Cheaper and easier.
