don't rip their cars apart like they're doing ours. sure they are appealing to some, and to others, no. the power difference is indisputable, but many of those guys are stuck with their cars, and therefore must argue till the death!

6 speed? He busted the T45? There weren't any GT's that came with a 6 speed.

I've owned and currently own both and there is no difference in quality. Both cars have their strong and weak points. The guys on Stangnet have no clue...

I'm on my 8th f-body. I just keep buying them because they are the best bang for the buck. My present car has been ridden hard and put away wet and I still say it's in good condition. It has taken in stride every bit of abuse I have ever thrown at it.

Default Both have ups and downs

I owned a '00 GT 5 speed and currently own a '01 Z28 A4 and I can honestly say both have there ups and downs.

I bought my GT simply for the reason of price. I bought it brand new loaded for around 20K. A Z went for 25K and I couldn't afford it when I just started a family. It was a good car. The aftermarket for the thing was insane. I believe it also came with a 9 inch rear end. Oh, and I loved the fact that it only required 87 octane. My main negative was the ride height of the car. I felt like I was driving a 4x4. And the leather was hard and uncomfortable. Oh, and my ultimate pet peave was the fact that some reject engineer thought it would be cool to have the cup holder right in the way of 4th gear. I crunched paper cups like crazy.

I got the Z 1.5 years later and have loved it ever since. Even though I had the engine replaced because of the "slap" I still love it. When I was driving my GT I always wished that I had a Z. The power is addicting. Going from 260 hp to 310 was amazing. I also love the sleek shape, comfort of the seats, and the ride height. My main negatives would be the rattling in the chassis, small rear end, and the fact that I have to put PREMIUM gas in the thing. OUCH. Other than that I am satisfied completely.

Well talking only facts here GM is better. I know many top Ford employees and Know of more than a hand full of "recalls that the puplic arn't told about".
What about the Fox body why arn't they making hackbacks anymore oh that is right on hard driving the C-piller cracked! And what about the Lincion LS motors that lasted about 20k miles then heads would fill with water and boom. The ford plates had to stop everything build tents in there lot and start trying to fix them!

I will agree the guality of the f-body is a little cheap, but just as Car & Driver and Hot Rod and Road & Track all said the costumer's money is in the motor and it is money well spent!
What you want the ride of a Cadillac, Speed of a Maclaren, Price of a Metro, and know the gas milage of a motorcycle!

No going to happen! Ford did get one thing right Cobra03' Oh but the was after the big screw up where the old cobra SVT had the same power as a regular cobra and like 15hp more than the gt. And there where so many mad customers that they had reps. flying out to dealers and the enginer tying to see if they could cheaply make a part to correct the problem.

Ok I am still mad

How many fords have rust problem--that is b/c it is cheaper to coat the raw metal than to use a galvinised(sp)! And does anyone know someone that has a 94style tunderbird that hasn't had head problems!

I could go on and on for days on this!

I've got a 94 T-Bird with no head problems to date. I have the 4.6 though. It does have ford's thinning paint problem on the roof. Next time your out just look at the roofs on thunderbirds and I would say about 90% of them have the primer showing. What did ford do about it? Nothing. Oh well, at least the car gets 27 mpg.

On quality - I've driven both 4th generation F-bodies and the current Ford Mustangs new and in all honesty, the materials and build quality of both leave much to be desired. It's kind of a moot point unless you want to claim one falls apart or squeaks more than the other.

It looks like Ford has more than addressed the typical quality as well as the lack of style and andambience of the Mustang with the upcoming redesigned models.

I have an '02 Z28 and I love it. The poll asked us to rate overall quality- well I voted 'good' but reserve the right to bump it to 'very good' after a couple more years (I have to see how well it holds up). The Camaro does not have awesome fit and finish- but I didn't buy it for that- I like the way it looks and I like the way it moves- this car is a **** load of fun to drive- I love the M6.
Also, correct me if I’m wrong but aren’t there a relative low number of TSBs (and recalls) on these vehicles over the last couple of years? Wouldn’t that be one indication of its overall quality?
Finally, I'm not a big Mustang fan but I like what Ford did with the ’05 GT- and they bumped the HP a bit:

Yeah the big hump on the passenger side was a tough sell to my wife but once I nailed it she understood the value. Well she already loved the look of course. The only thing I wonder about is I saw the new 05 Stang is rated for 300hp and it does it on 87 octance. I am sure it will never make the fat tourque curve of the LS1 though.

The one thing lacking in my car is the Radio. I don't have the Monsoon system in mine. I've heard clock radios that sound better. It is not a huge deal to me. I think the Monsoon system is a little heavier also. I sacrifice sound for weight. If I wanted a louder system I could just add one but its not worth it for me.

The interior sucks compared to my 14 year old vw, but everything works pretty reliably on my 00. That is a big plus Then again not much doesn't work on my 14 year old vw, only the factory speed activated rear spoiler.

The ergonomics kinda suck, feels like they built the car for one size person on mind, and they shoulda done the rear 1/4's in composite too because thats where all the fockers door ding my car.

so far im pretty pleased. knock on wood.
