Default muffler delete

for all those with stock exhaust cutting off the muffler sounds sexy as hell lol. i just sawed off the muffler and put a tip on that pointed down. dropped like 30 or so lbs, gained a few hp, and some cash (was gonna get an lm1) and it sounds clean. not too loud when u keep the rpms down (can still hear making calls on the cell) but loud and mean when u floor it. also feels a little quicker but throttle response suffered a tiny bit it feels like. gonna get a p&p tb to make up for it. just a little info for all. im happy. tip cost 7 bucks at a local auto parts store. any questions hit me up! also i thought the exhaust might heat up the gas tank being its right there but went for a drive then felt the gas tank... cool as a cucumber. i can also show pics if anyone wants to see. also might be selling my stock dual dual set up... thanks all

I was going to chop off my muffler as a cheap and easy exhaust "upgrade," but already had a cutout in the I-pipe and didn't think it would benefit me in any way after I put some serious thought into it. Besides, once I put in long tubes and ORY the rasp around 2,000rpms got so bad it sounded like a trumpet was having sex with a jackhammer underneath the car so I ditched the dumped setup and threw in a Rumbler catback. I was always curious as to how it would have sounded with no muffler, though... I wonder if it would have sounded any different from when I just had a cutout and nothing else...
Got any pics of the results? Possibly vids of some idles/revs/drivebys?

Cutting the muffler an dumping it right before, or after the rear end suites the Camaro since it looks better without an exposed exhaust tip at or beyond the bumper.
I'd still run at least a small bullet muffler off the end for a better tone.

Maybe it's just the camera angle but that looks like some serious clearance problems haha Scraped anything yet, or does it clear obstacles pretty well?

This was one of the reasons I wanted to cut mine. I thought the Camaro would be a sexy beast with no pipes visible out the back. My TSP catback didn't stick out from under the bumper but you could see the pipes when sitting low behind the car and it looked pretty ghetto so I ended up buying some tips

Funniest thing I read all day, and yes that describes it perfectly. Thats how my car sounds under low throttle angle and high load, (ie slowly accelerating up a hill) I'm switching to a flowmaster catback with a cutout to try and dimish the rasp.

Oh, sweet! I figured it was the angle of the camera. If it sits higher than the muffler then you'll be scraping other things before ever hooking that tip

Yeah I loved the raw sound the cutout gave it but it was downright embarrassing while climbing hills or doing low-rpm pulls past slow traffic. Hope the catback helps you out! Mine refined the rasp note to where it wasn't so embarrassing.

Yep I'm happy. Sounds good in all rpm ranges and even under load. I guess it works perfect with the stock manifolds and cats with the 3" piping from stock slp exhaust
