Default Need Advice On Performance Muffler

Hello Everyone!

I am new to LSI Tech, this is my first post and I am looking for some advice. I have an 03 Yukon Denali 6.0 with 3" factory exhaust w/dual in dual out factory muffler. I purchased a 2.25" dual in dual out Thrush Welded muffler. When I took the Thrush to the shop for install the mechanic told me that going from 3" to 2.25" would restrict the air flow and ultimately cause damage to my motor. Is this true?
I have been looking for 3" dual in dual out mufflers and am only able to find 3" single in with 2.5" dual out. Can I go to a 3" single in? I am at a loss as to what my options are. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Welcome, you find much more info if you look at the very top of the page and click the "performance trucks" link above the LS1tech logo. 2.25" definitely isn't going to help the air flow. Magnaflow part number 12599 and 12469 are both dual 3" in/out mufflers FYI.
