I love my SS4000 also. Daily drove my car for several months with it and stock 3.23's.

So what would I need to consider in choosing between an ss3600 and an ss4000 I'm still on the stock rear with 3.23's as well

If you are not going to race it then the 3600 should be fine for your needs. But if you are going to drag race it then I would recommend the ss4000.

Do not go lower than a 3200 at all, if you are going smaller than that just leave it alone and save your money.

I like my Yank SS3600 a lot. Sometimes I wish I had gone to a 4000, but other times I'm glad it's as tight as it is.

My fuel mileage dropped off a little in town, maybe 2mpg tops but that's because I'm usually playing around with it. On the highway there was no change at all.

My SS3600 has gone a best of 1.67 60ft with no spin but more often around 1.7. It seems people with the SS4000 are more often lower in the 1.5-1.6 range.

I have not ridden in a SS4000 car on the street but did ride in a Vigilante 4000 stall car and I did not enjoy that much...way to loose for my tastes. But I've heard that the Vigilante stalls are naturally looser. A friends Vigilante 3200 is similar to my Yank 3600.

Vig is a bit loose but they hit hard.

If a 4000 isn't in the 1.5 range there is either traction issues or the converter isn't performing how it should.

I was 1.50-1.52s @ 3500# in 2200+da with only 36xRwhp.. And i even had slight wheel spin. Hooking would have put me in the high 1.4 range.

stall goes in hand with sticky tires as peanut butter with jelly.

you can even make worst 60fts ets because of the lack of traction

how tight the stall feels is also dependent on your gears i have a ss3600 with 3.23s and if it was a daily driver i would go with the 3200. i think the 3600 would be alright if you had 3.73s. maybe some one would let you drive a car setup the way you want. then you would know if you liked it. you could try mine but its an awful long ride to ct to find out

Yeah it would be awesome if I knew anyone around here with a stalled car but unfortunately I don't, I have never driven a stall anything and frankly its one of the things I know next to nothing about, which that's another question I had what exactly are Yall talking about when you say how tight and loose a stall is

Loose...give it more throttle to get up to speed
Tight.....less throttle to get up to speed.
I knew nothing as well about converters..but after 100+threads..I went with a 4000 and I'm sooo glad I did.
Didn't want to regret not going big..like you'll see/read more often than wanting to go smaller.

So I'm guessing the purpose of the higher stall is for harder launches, with that being the case how safe is it on a factory rear?

the higher rpm stall get you to peak power quicker.these converters will have a lock up clutch for normal hiway driving .the more power the motor makes the higher the flash rpm will be .converters can be designed for less slipage on the top end .talk to a few converter builders to deside what you want .

Not very... But what is?

If it makes it go faster, it is going to strain a stock part that much more.

However.. I have personally cut 1.50-1.52 short times for many passes on a stock rear with 3.73s and a girdle. I have plenty of friends that are hitting the car with a shot cutting low-mid 1.4Xs.

Well for right now track trips are rare so under normal daily driving with the occasional street run how well will the stock rear stand up do you think?

Without a prepped surface, I doubt it would ever break unless you already have a failing part.
