Default lug nuts

I keep losing the plastic lug not that treads over the real one on my 2000 ta ws6. How tight can I crank down or what? Thanks

I usually use a ratchet on these, roughly ~10 lb-ft of torque or so, and that seems to be enough to keep them on without cracking them.

Ok, thanks I thought I would mark them up using a socket.

I got tired of losing my black plastic covers and just bought a set of black Gorilla lug nuts. They hold up really well and do not scratch. I always thought the plastic caps were kind of hokey.

Of course I kept the originals and they are in a baggie in the garage.

I use a larger socket with a thin piece of cloth stuffed inside so I don't mark them up.

I have never had issues with leaving any marks on the plastic when using the correct 19mm socket and minimal torque.

I use the lug wrench that came with my car and just tighten them snug and never had a problem.

Since the car is bone stock with only 8500 miles my goal is to keep it looking like it came from the factory. It still has the Delco battery and some the plastic on the insides. It's a long story about the history that save for the right forum. Thks again the socket with the cloth will do !

Just an FYI, I have a 16k mile 97 point show car that scores 5/5 on wheels and tires; I have never used a cloth and never left any damage on the plastic covers. A clean socket with minimal torque will work perfectly.

You'd think as a truck driver I'd have lug nut covers, but I like to show my nuts......both on my car, p/u, and semi truck. Mine are just dark grey plastic but if you want them, you're more then welcome to them. I'd be more then happy to mail them to you.

yeah man....just a little...enough to create some kind of resistance on the threads.

The plastic lugs wont move and when you take them off...the stuff will always be in there.
