Mobil One is a real synthetic, Castrol inst.

I think Patman had a post on here a while back about it. Do a search and you might find it.

He'll recommend Castrol 0w30(made in germany) b/c it's on the high end of the 30 weight scale or amisol 10w30. Plus he's had very good results with these

I stoped using M1 5w30 and 10w30 and started using 0w40. I like it much better. Oil pressure is better. I think Patman like this oil too.

The Castrol Syntec 0w30 from Germany is the good one, it's much better than Mobil 1 5w30, but the Syntec 5w30 and 10w30 are completely different from the German stuff and is not as good. They are both thin 30wt oils. The 0w30 Syntec is very close to being a 0w40. And yes, I've seen amazing oil analysis results on every car I've run it in so far, and other people's oil analysis results with this oil have also looked very good, it's yet to post a bad report.

So far it's only available in Autozone in the US, or Walmart in Canada (and some Canadian Tire stores)

Look for the made in Germany label on the back, not the older US made 0w30 Syntec.

Yes, this 0w30 is totally safe to run in the hottest weather, since it's almost a 0w40, so it will be thicker at operating temperature than something like Mobil 1 10w30 for instance, which is on the thin end and is almost a 20wt oil.

Redline is definitely very good, and definitely one of the best. The only problem is that Redline also costs a lot more than the German Castrol. Up here, Redline is $12.99 per quart, versus $6.66 per liter for the Castrol. So being double the price makes it hard to justify for a lot of people.

TX_SS, I'd recommend going with the K&N oil filter, as the M1 oil filter is very restrictive to flow.

Other good choices would be the NAPA Gold or Wix (same filters, different labels) or believe it or not, the Walmart Supertech filter! (very similar to the STP filter since they are made by the same people)

Assassin, I've never seen GTX 20w50 in an LS1 but I've seen an analysis on GTX 10w40 and it looked very good (although it was a short 2500 mile interval) If I were to ever run a conventional oil it would most likely be GTX 10w40. (although I still prefer synthetics)

i started using the 0w30 syntec about 500 miles ago. so far i've not used a drop of oil; before, with 5w30 M1, i used about a quart over the course of 1000 miles, which was about half a quart per 500 miles. so far, the syntec has proven itself worthy to me. i'm sure i'll burn some oil, but it's not looking like it's going to compare with what M1 burned!

Just changed my oil with 0-30 german syntec with a pure one filter, you didn't say anything about it being green! I changed it outside in the sunlight and when I opened the cap I thought someone had put coolant in instead of oil!Scared the crap out of me!Thanks for your recommendation on the oil, I think my piston slap is better, or I think it is
