Service Engine

I just got a service engine soon , pop up , I know that I need an oil change and will do soon , what else could it be ?

What car do you have? mods? You need to have it scanned to see what code its throwing.

No point in guessing. There are dozens of DTCs that will trigger a MIL (SES light).

Get it scanned, or purchase an OBD scanner yourself (I recommend this if you plan to frequently do your own work....comprehensive scanning software/program is best).

... and remember you are not alone. When my SES light came on when I had extremely low mileage on my T/A I was dumbfounded.

and had no clue. Fortunately my local dealership was rather honest and they ran the codes for me. It was a catalytic converter gone bad. Who would have ever thought? I learned that it wasn't that uncommon here on LS1Tech and the dealership even told me it was under warranty (10 years, 100,000 miles). The number of things that could be wrong is amazing. It must be checked and done properly. Don't panic and hopefully it will be minor. Best of luck!

My AC is dry and the fuses pulled , I think that is the problem ?

I bought a bluetooth scanner that hooks up to the port on the vehicle - was maybe twenty bucks. i can check and clear codes that way.

Do this. Pull into the parking lot and ask someone inside if they can scan the SES code in your car. Takes no time at all. They can either look up what that code means, or you can Google it. Either way, write it down.

I did something similar. I bought the Torque app for my Android phone, and bought this bluetooth OBDII plug to read my own codes. The Torque app can do a LOT of things, but I mainly bought this setup to check my own codes.
