Default Stealth plate...

anybody have a stealth plate licence plate cover, I remember a while ago they were being made for bikes and soon car plates but I didnt look into it any further, anybody got one?, I want to get one now, just because of all the dumb *** old ladies w/ cell phones going 10mph under the speed limit and I pass in a passing zone yet they feel offended and need to get on there stupid phones and call the cops and that **** gets documented, thats just one of the reasons why I dont want every ******* w/ a cell phone to get my plate number....... I tried searching google but didnt come up w/ anything, if you dont know what I'm talkin about it looks like a clear licence plate cover when there is power to it, but when power is cut off (via a toggle), it goes to lcd gray and you cant see through it

hey i had a plate cover that was a mirror finish to throw off radar/laser and now red light cameras. from dead on you can read it but at the slightest angle it just turned into a mirror. i still have it and i dont know the name on it, but i got it from a car show, that would be the best place to look. is this what your talking about?

no, its electrically activated, when charged you can see right through at any angle, but when off, you cant see jack, I did some more searching but so far I'm led to beleive they were stoped being made, not 100% sure yet though

But if you do get pulled over, that's another big fine, as those
are illegal.

A company called hightechspeed used to manufacture the "stealth plates." Looks as thought their website is down or they no longer feature that product. You can try and make one yourself if you pick up some of 3M's Privacy Film.

The one he is thinking of is the one im thinking of.

It was glass, and would fog up completely with the flick of a switch in about a half a second.

I'd like to get one

i've seen that technology on TV before... mainly talking about Windows and such..

so does it need CONSTANT power for it to be clear?
or would you be able to wire up a switch

IE: so you don't run you battery dead so you don't get a ticket when you park your car

you need juice for it to be clear, I think the point was that people wouldnt be able to get the licence plate of expensive/exotic bikes or cars while they were parked and get there home address to steal them...... well thats one of the "legal" excuses, but does anybody know where to get this film to make your own?

its called electric privacy glass, not 3m privacy film, although it does use privacy film from 3m.

"privacy glass laminates 3M Privacy Film between two panes of glass. The windows are wired to a wall switch that uses the same voltage (120V/240V) as standard household appliances. With the flip of a switch you can instantly change the glass from clear to frosted. It's that simple."

technical info

http://www.glassresource.com/sub/special/privacy.htm

aka Liquid Crystal Privacy Laminate

http://www.laminatedtechnologies.co...vacy_films.html

Main problem i see---->

"Electrical: Consumes less than 1 watt per foot. Minimum voltage requirement is 80 volts AC. Switches from frosted to clear in 25 milliseconds or less."

3m is experimenting with uses for this technology and has encouraged engineers to contact them with ideas. who here is an engineer and wants to make a suggestion?
