Haven't actually changed one on my LS1 yet, but I would assume it is underneath the passenger seat.
At least that's where it was on LT1.
I'm sure somebody will correct me if I'm wrong.

I purchased a Purolator filter from Advance Auto for around $9. They have the AC Delco's as well but they weren't in stock at the time.
