Is it worth doing a ls6 intake w stock exhaust manifolds & cats?

Absolutely. Its a factory LS engine manifold. Only thing is if you have EGR you'll need to get it deleted or have the manifold plumed for EGR. You can pass a scan-only emissions on pretty much the most radiacal LS cars if you have a tune. My wifes T/A has had an ORY on it for years now and passes. I know they can smell it when we come in but they never say anything.

I did this on my 2000 T/A last year. Swapped the LS1 intake for an LS6, picked up a ported TB and removed the EGR/AIR at the same time. I picked up 2-2.5mph consistently at the track. Though there are many variables at the track, the SOTP feeling was very noticeable in the mid-range and up top.
From a dig I didn't feel much of a change though the ported TB will make your throttle feel more responsive. As others have said, removing the EGR will give you a CEL/SES but you can have it tuned out. Also, make sure you have block off plates for the AIR/EGR. They're cheap and worth it. It's also an easy swap. I'm not very mechanically competent and it only took a couple hours with proper tools.

Deff worth it I think plus its a vital piece if you do other upgrades....long as you can get by with no egr if it wasn't for the block off plates I wouldn't think they'd even notice.

Not worth it.
For the seat of the pants gain, you need something significant. With my tune, LTs, duals, and lid I felt it a little (not as much as you may think for the massive changes and investment made).
Get a cutout, gears, stall, or a different muffler, more enjoyable mods than an intake which you really will not feel. Maybe a tiny 25 shot of nitrous??
