And you can get the build # for the WS6's from ASC who did the WS6 conversion.

But like everyone else has said...whichever one you like better...and can find a better deal on.

Like everyone else before me mentioned, get what you like best. However, there are some things that I have seen with these two beautiful cars: WS6 seems to have nicer interior, and WS6 tends to be a bit higher priced than a comparable SS. Also, someone mentioned an SS being faster than a heavier optioned WS6........when I first bought my car, my friend had his SS for about 6 months, and pulled away from me slowly but surely. I'm sure some of it had to do with me just getting the car and not really being able to drive it. We have almost identical mods now (very few) and I ALWAYS pull away in 3rd and 4th. I'm a consistent .3 to .4 faster at the track.

The SS and WS6 are the same in speed mostly. They will vary slightly per car. Some WS6 are faster and some SS are faster.

Skip them both and find a Firehawk.

A base SS and a WS6 are merely a matter of personal preference. Go with what you like. The only differnece, as noted a time or two is the SLP options. But even then, the aftermarket can fill all the holes. If you're having a hard time deciding, don't pass up either car with the 1LE suspension.

Well I always loved the WS6 till I saw a 'hawk. 'Hawks rule! But then I saw the sticker and said, uuhh...I think I will go with a Z. An SS would have cost me 3600 more, a WS6 another 1500 or so, then a Hawk another 3000 depending on options. So I ordered a z with my personal preferences of options and am happy since with the savings I can mod my car to romp on any SS, WS6, or Hawk dollor for dollor. Some day I will get a hawk. I say whatever fits your budget and floats your boat.

Yep, just get whatever one you like the looks of better, performance differences are minimal at best. Personally I like the SS much better, I hate the spoiler on the WS6. I also don't like the connection between the nostrils on the WS6, the firehawk's hood looks much better to me, I also like the SLP HO hood.

Here's an 02 Firehawk T/A

The only things that are different is the hood, wheels, and some 02's have the "IROC Inspired" wing (like the one above). You could also have a Firehawk Formula.

The way the hood on the Firebird fits with the ram air there is a little more clearance between the air lid and the base than there is on the SS. This seems like it would result in very little hp difference which would be negated by either the CAI or FRA modification. You cannot install the Firebird lower section on an SS as the is not enought room for the hood to close and it would rub on the air box.

i dont understand, being that the ws6 has the ws6 suspension package, why is it that the ss has better control?

personally i think the ws6 is so damn sexy with that hood and body! but i would pass one of them up for an aniversary ss! they look just as good if not better!

Always thought that pontiac puts too many lumps and bumps and unessary body inhancements on their cars....just my 2 cents...2 me the Z28 or SS is much cleaner...really like the clean looks of the Z over all of them...fake hood scoops dont do much for me...everyone has their own poison...

I like how someone put it here a while ago.
"An SS looks like it could kick your *** if it wanted to, but a WS6 looks like it's coming over to do it!"

I think people keep missing that the SS and Firehawk also had two optional suspension packages, even though it is mentioned in this thread. If you get an SS with the Bilstein suspension package or the 1LE package, it's going to be far better than the WS6.

People also miss that the SS and WS6 standard suspensions got watered down by 2000. It wasn't really any more than the sway bars by that time.
