Its supposed to allow the rpms to rise and fall faster due to less rotating mass. I got a lighter flywheel when I did the clutch in my car. I put a monster stage 2 in my car which weighed more than a stock clutch so the clutch/flywheel combo was somewhere around 6lbs lighter. I cant say that I have noticed a huge difference but I am happy with it. If you have everything already apart I would say just go ahead and do it while you are in there.

I went with a Spec clutch kit , and flywheel insert , still have to install them .
