I haven't paid for the car yet. I am in the process of putting together different quotes from shops around the area. I have three right now, with $650 being the highest price I've received. All include mounts.

I wish I could take my car from hi, but the a-hole has it locked in his spare bay. lol

The price is outrageous but you gotta wrk with this guy and get ur car back. With out something in writing he's got ya by the short hairs bud...with that being said if someone brings there car and they've got it ripped apart like that the rate goes up. Just for the fact you gotta figure out where all the **** goes and hope they didn't lose anything. Sry to be the Dick of the group

Never heard of rates going up because of that. I guess it is possible? But shouldn't they make mention that it is an extra rate because of those reasons? I gave them everything labeled. Nuts and bolts were grouped together in little sandwich bags specifically labeled. Each part was tagged where it was removed from. Yes, he got a bunch of parts but they weren't just thrown wrecklessly into the car.

You're not a d*ck. The only d*ck in this thread is the guy who posted that image... lol

Lol yea. No I do totally agree anything like that should have been discussed with you right off the bat. And I don't think that's a written rule. It's just "most" ppl make more wrk then if they would have brought it to you first. And then there's some ******** that do it outta spite. Sounds like you kept it pretty neat witch is rare. What state are you in?

I live around Pittsburgh that's crazy labor anywhere especially around here lol. I dunno man I'd say get the car back even if he won't work with you....you gotta do what you gotta do to get ur car. After that I'd try n see if he's pulled this **** with other ppl and check into state laws and see if you got a leg to stand on....if not throw a road flayer under the seat of all the cars in his lot lol j.p ...not really

Uhh did they drop your k-member to install the headers/ mounts? That's the only way I can think of them justifying the labor cost.

Well, I have three estimates from other garages. All about half of what my bill is. I am going in to talk to the guy with the hardcopies of the estimates from other shops in the area. Hopefully it works! I'll post my results.

OP, you said you had your car towed there? Was that on your own expense or maybe the shop added the towing fee with the bill? That price is way over the top for just labor, my header/ory install cost me a whopping 300 bucks.

I got headers, ory, cat-back installed. Plus new plug wires, and header gaskets all for 600. Wires, were 40, gaskets were like 15-20, so a little over 500 for full exhaust labor. Not sure how much more motor mounts wouldve been.

I used AAA for the towing. It is literally just labor and about $80 in parts. I literally provided damn near everything they needed to do the job.

He knocked some of the price down. So it is a little over $800 now. Guy tried charging me for extra stuff (like coolant and oil) which he never even asked about. He just went and charged me for it. I can only imagine how much he padded the labor. Scum bag! He won't be on the Christmas card list anytime soon... Time for a beer!

i never get shops like that, they think there gunna make a little extra here and there by screwin u on add ons (coolant and oil for instance) where in reality they would make more in the long run if they did good honest work for a fair price, one ud come back for more and 2 ud recommand them to friends and theyd get more business, how i feel atleast but

imo if i pay some one to do something on my car i want it to be a better, perferbly way better, then i would of myself and be correctly done and cleanly done

Where do y'all live to get full exhuast installs for $300? It literally would probably be cheaper for me to drive a state or two over for the install if it's only $300. Lol, now days in my area, labor is at or above $100/hr. I called VA speed about my true duals install, lets just say I'm going to tackle it myself before I take it to anyone. The price for install is enough to pay for a set of budget heads.

Back on topic though, the $1000 for half of a MM/exhuast install is high, but I could see it happening in a worse case scenario. Don't ever get roudy in someones business though, throws anything you say later on down the drain. Always come correct and logically.

Here in good oh Illinois lol, I had Speed, Inc. (sponsor on here) do my installs and was charged $300 but that's also cause I purchased the parts through them as well. However, years before with my old Camaro, I had headers done to that one as well and had a muffler shop do the install and was also charged $300, no way will I ever pay beyond that.

300$??? Man that is a good deal compared to what I got quoted. I talk to 4 different shops and the cheapest I got was $500 and that was with me taking the manifolds and y pipe off myself. I wont count one guy though cuz he wanted $800 and told me that long tube headers wouldn't fit on my car. I left and will never be back to that guy for so much as a quart of oil.

With the quotes I got and the time it takes to do motor mounts, Idk if they really scammed you. It sounds like they're just really high priced. Charging you for the coolant is BS though for sure.

Speed inc has probably done enough exhaust installs to do it in their sleep for 300.00 haha. Big difference between a speed/specialty shop and some of these other places. Sorry to hear about the hit to the wallet OP.
