Default a fool and his money

I just purchased a 1999 4.8 under the impression it was a 06 5.3. anyhow i found a 2000 5.3 long block and was wondering if a can make this work with the pats I have? pcm intake fuel-rails, coils, etc. or even if I have to swap crank and rods. is this doable? Also before I pick it up will the 5.3 be stamped on the pass side head-gasket tab? if anything i can hone and put new rings in it if the accessories will swap over.

Are you wanting to put the parts from the 5.3 longblock into the 4.8? If so then yes you'll need to swap the crank, as 4.8s have a unique crank. All accessories, intake etc should swap right over I believe.

I'd imagine if its a 4.8 PCM, you'd need it flashed torun optimally. May still run, others can chime in. I've seen a 5.3 swapped in place of an Ls1 and it ran on the 5.7 PCM (though somewhat poorly).
