Default LS7 or 100mm MAF on a LS1 for turbo help

I will be doing the initial start up and get the car on the track with the motor in stock form but will shortly afterwards be turbo charging the setup so I don't want to run to small of/ stock MAF would I be ok moving up to a ls7 MAF or 100mm MAF on a stock 5.7 motor as long as the PCM is tuned for it?

Go speed density, get a 2 or 3 bar MAP depending on the amount of boost.

Do I need to retune the PCM for the MAP instead of the MAF? And where's the best place to mount the MAP or does it not matter?

Yes you will need to tune the car for SD operation. Your car already has a 1 bar map on the intake manifold. It basically maxes out at 14.7 lb (atmospheric pressure) witch is 0 on your boost / vac gauge. Then when you go in to boost it's #'s above ambient that you see go + on your gauge. So the 2 bar map will read 14.7lb above ambient, a 3 bar will go to 29.4lb... ect

What intake manifold are you running ?

I just picked the motor up from a local hot rod shop. its bone stock out of a trans am with 85k. I haven't swapped anything on it yet, so the manifold is still stock. I didn't get a MAF with it or a PCM and harness so I've been trying to plan it all out to do this right the first time. I already purchased a harness from PSI conversions.

the part about the 14.7 being zero makes total sense. so even though I don't plan on running 29.4lbs of boost I'll go 3bar anyways cause I like not running sensors/injectors/etc at or around there limits.
on a strictly MAP setup does the PCM still need/have a intake air temp sensor?

sorry if some of these questions seem so simple, really new to the whole LS1 thing, very excited about having some bottom end power though lol.

Yes, you need and want the Inlet Air Temperature sensor. Lets say your going to run meth, the IAT sensor will pick up the colder temperature change and will adjust / leave the timing alone at wide open throttle. If your not running meth injection it can also pick up on the rising IAT's and retard the timing some so you don't hurt the moter. The IAT's can get over 200 deg depending on the out side temp, itercooler size/efficiency ect..

What year is the car this engine is coming out of ?

Here's where the the MAP sensor is located on the ls1/ls6 intake manifolds...

Well from what I've gathered I need to get new heads first, so I plan to start there. Kinda want to see how this motor runs and then plan out from there. Still kinda researching to figure things out. I have a monster clutch and flywheel coming for it. And I'll do an egr delete and setup a catch can system from the valve covers. Kinda still figuring things out. I want to get a feel for the car with the added weight before I boost it.
