Default 2002 Z28 m6 shifter problems

Hey now. I purchased a 2002 Z28 with a six speed right before Christmas. I haven't drove it very much as it is a toy. I don't have any experience with the six speed so I don't know what to expect. When I go to shift gears the shifter doesn't "glide into gear". It is like I have to put a little more effort in it. When I do get down on it I have to take my time changing gears. I changed the fluid which was dirty. I have read on the drill mod but I am not for sure if that would help with my issue. Is it an adjustment or the factory Hurst shifter? Any help would be appreciated. thanks

I have the same car and will say the factory Hurst shifters are on the firm side. They aren't like some import cars that you can push the shifter with your fingers. Personally, I like the way they shift. Assuming nothing has been altered, I'd say it's normal.

If you're getting locked out of gear when shifting at high rpm's the drill mod will help with a stock clutch. I haven't drove a t56 yet that falls into gear. Your problem sounds like the POS stock clutch master cylinder.

This is true if dealing with near stock power levels. It helped with my 2000 SS, but that was just a lid/catback car. The drill mod didn't help at all with my 2002 SS and with lid/longtubes/pulley/tune.

Regular driving it seems fine. Like said though, when getting down On it you can't hit the gears fast.
