If he's telling you it's an '02 Cobra then you might wanna check out his ride because SVT didn't make a '02 Cobra.

Ditto that. Also. If its an 03 hell own you. A way to tell is the 03 cobras have a SOLID spoiler that is attached completly to the trunk lid unlike the 01 where it attached only on the ends. That is an easy way to tell without having to have him pop his hood. if its an 01 then I wouldnt underestimate it either. I have a buddie with an 01. All that he has is a shifter, exhaust (no headers) and 410's. Look at my mod list. You would think that I would own him but we are door to door till 3rd and then he walks me. Putting gears in a Cobra is trouble. Make sure you ask him if his ring and pinion has been changed.
I could easily put 410 or 411's in my car and beat him but I already have 373's in the stock 10 bolt and dont want to risk it with the smaller teeth on the 410's. Guess ill have to get my intake and ASP pulley on to see If I can at least stay with him. Otherwise.....................Cam cam cam here I come.

Oh by the way. even though he walks me, I would never trade my car for a cobra. I think they drive like ****! the shifter is 40ft away from you and they dont handle anywhere close to as nice as my car. He drove my car once and was blown away by how awsome it handled.

Just remember the solid spoiler. Stock 03's have it and I would stay away if i were you untill you get some slightly heavy modding going (ie cam, headers). Either way, enjoy the race and mod the hell outta your car. cant have that guy talking trash for too long!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Put a good Torque converter in that car & it matters not if it's an 03 -04, you'll waste him off the line & light to light.

02 cobra's do exist, but rare. If it's that, or an 01, you will fry his ***. I friend of mine vbought a 01 cobra about the same time I bought my WS-6, and we;ve raced about a 100 times, and the same thing happens every time, we start out even, and by the time I'm out of first, I have a car on him, and it only get;s worse the faster we go. He's done about everything to that car he can without getting into the motor or a blower, and even with e.t.street's, I still take him, now it's just even in 1st gear. with your auto, you should get him even worse, if it's a 01/02. If i's a 03 (which are kind of hard to tell apart if you're not a ford guy) then you're in trouble.

What are the HP ratings for the different years. I am having a hard time keeping track of the different Stangs' and ratings. I wanna know who I can mess with and who I shouldn't also.

God forbid anyone runs into a 01 Cobra with a good driver......if he can drive and has exhuast dont be so sure u will beat him.It will be close.......Why does everyone spell "lose","loose"?

I can't figure that out either. Maybe the problem is rooted in public education. It's really not hard to distinguish between loose and lose.

The only knowledge I have of 2002 Cobras are the 100 that were made for Australia, including right-hand drive.

When all I had was a catback I ran into a well driven 01 Cobra 5 spd that also had at least a catback if not more. Was kind of close, about 2-3 car lengths at ~135 mph.......little close for comfort if you ask me, because if I had a stick and messed up the launch or a shift it could have gone the other way. Of course, I have a 98 so mine is a little weaker than the newer ones when stock, and he may or may not have had "just a cat-back", but in the end I could have lost relatively easily that time.............IF it is not the supercharged 2003+ you should be able to take him from a dig with a 3.23 A4 if you don't somehow get too much spin on launch.

96-98 cobras= 305 hp prob dyno at like 260 or so stock

99&01= 320 hp usually dyno at about 280 or so give or take.

03-04 390 hp, but most are underrated and usually dyno at like 360-370 or so at the wheels.

honestly every car ford makes really isn't that nice without a blower, i know, and if for some reason you are not intelligent(like i was) and you attempt to make a 96-98 gt fast without some type of engine swap you are a moron. the 96-98's engien suck. all th ecobra engines are comparable (except the newer ones) and if you slap a blower on any DOHC cobra engine they scream ***** out. also they make good power up top and can rev forever so a lot of people wiht put in a 4.56 gear and i am sure that it will start to move.

If he only has what he says he has i think that you will take him pretty easily. he has IRS and can't luanch all that great so take him from a dig and never let off.

u have a 02 z28 right against a 02 cobra. u will kill him. i have tooken out 3 2002 cobras that were lightly modifyed buy at least 2 or 3 car lengths. good luck bro

Good rule of thumb. Counts the "O's". In lose there is one and you will only want to lose once if ever. In loose there are two and if you have a loose chick you will want her more than once.

If its not an 03 the only problem I think I will have is traction. I still have factory tires and havent put any mods on it to help traction. I seem to have a little bit of wheel hop. I have read in here how to stop it but i dont have time to get it fixed.

For those of you in America:

You have a 2002 z28, right? You're against a 2002 Cobra. You will kill him. I have taken out 3 lightly modified 2002 Cobras by at least 2 or 3 car lengths.


The Ford boys are going to have fun if they find this post. A GM guy that can't spell and has beaten 3 cars that don't exist.

Yeah, people don't always seem to realize that Ford, AFAIK, only made 99/01 Cobras. The 99's were way underpowered and Ford had to fix customers cars and supposedly retool I think so there was no 00 Cobra and then in 02 they were working on the 03. Think this was already stated in the thread though............and any ford people that read this and want to call , when someone posts and says they beat an 02 Cobra I'd just take that to mean a 99/01
