If that's what his car looks like it's not an 02. A Cobra R has a real rear wing and a different hood. There are some other differences too. If this is what his car looks like it's no Cobra R. Just make sure there's no blower under the hood and your good to go.

The SNAKES are just like our F-bodies...each one is different. Each one has it's own power level. We have had 3 COBRAS in the past; one 1995 and two 1998s. When we had the 98s, we also had three friends that had 1998 Cobras too. Our black 98 was stock except Flowmaster mufflers and a PRO-5.0 shifter. Out of all our friend's snakes the best ran 13.8, while our's ran 13.4. It all comes down to each car's power andthe DRIVER! It should be a go race though.

Um, it's a 2002 GT with 2000 Cobra R parts on it. Still doesn't make it a 2002 Cobra.

I was a die hard Mustang guy, so I'm going to chime in here. There were no 02's that I know of. 2001 Cobras were built/released late. 1999's were recalled because of the power problems. 2003 different story. They weigh alot, have IRS, NO low end tourqe, and other than a blower or juice the mod market is slim. Race him and post the results please

There isn't. That was just a typical example of LS1+driver inconsistency.
Could have very well been the other way around.

Me and my friend were talking about this the other day. I'm not sure what the year was but I remember him saying that in one of those years Ford messed up the cobras horsepower rating bad and alot of people were pissed. Cause they were going to get on the dyno and there cars were not no were near the horsepower rating they were supposed to. For that Ford took a year off to fix the problem.

But still the only Cobras I've seen that can keep up with my friends LS1s is the 03 so u should walk him regardless let me know how it went.

I dont think they made Cobra R's in yellow? I thought you could only get em in red. Its sound like a GT with a Cobra R body kit. You should beat him.

There's so many things wrong with this thread I don't even know where to start.

- Non-existant cars
- Fake Cobra R's

Cobra R's ONLY came in RED.
If the car looks like the picture posted above look at the rear valence. 2003 cobras have a black insert in the rear between the exhaust tips. More than likely he has an 01 with a Cobra R kit, I would not sweat it.

Hey everyone,

Finally found out what he had. He actually had an 02 Gt with some mods and and a Cobra R kit. He said he wanted me to think he was stock because he didnt think I would race him if he told me what he had. He said he said it was an 02 to confuse me.

Anyway after we raced he showed me all the mods. I did sound and look really good.

Once I got there I looked at his car and could tell it wasnt an 03 so we put $50 each in my friends had and pulled up. He got me off the line a little bit due to lack of traction. However when I hit second I started catching up and ended up beating him less than a 1/2 car link. He had a really strong GT tho. We also raced from a roll and I took him by a car link that time. I had 1 guy in my car w/ the roll and he had 2 w/ him tho. Dont know how much of a difference that made.

You make me proud boy!! Look at his mod list, and count your fingers & toes.... Now most guys I know w/ Stang GT's swear up and down that they're either as fast, or faster than my Z.... That guy acutally has some decent money in his ride, and you still took him, w/ nothing more than a $100 lid. You rock, and so do our cars. :salute:

When he started showing me what he had I was kinda dumbfounded. He had a lot of good mods. But it kinda boosted my confidence. Ls1's are awesome! He said he had about 300 hp and was very surprised with my car.
